Kazakhstan has assumed the chairmanship of the Association of Mountain Ski Resorts of Turkic Countries. Rinat Abdrakhmanov, General Director of the Shymbulak Mountain Resort, was elected Chairman of the Association for the next two years. The decision was made at the Association's II Summit, held at the Amirsoy Mountain Ski Resort in Uzbekistan with the support of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
In accordance with the Association's charter, the chairmanship officially passed from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan.
"Over the next two years, Kazakhstan will chair the Association. This is a great responsibility aimed at strengthening partnerships, developing joint initiatives, and further expanding cooperation between our countries. Being elected Chairman of the Association is a great honor. I sincerely thank my colleagues for their trust. I am confident that through our joint efforts, we will be able to implement important projects, strengthen professional ties between resorts, and make a significant contribution to the development of mountain tourism in the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States," said Rinat Abdrakhmanov.
The II Summit of the Association of Mountain Ski Resorts of Turkic Countries was held under the theme "From Peaks to Prosperity: Joint Development of Mountain and Ski Resorts in Turkic States and Their Integration into the Global Tourism System."
The event was attended by heads of mountain and ski resorts, as well as representatives of government bodies from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey.
During the summit, participants discussed the development of cooperation between resorts, the creation of joint tourism products, the promotion of summer mountain tourism, the introduction of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, personnel training, and the adaptation of the industry to climate change.
Currently, the Association includes nine mountain and ski resorts from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey.
The organization was established in 2024 with the support of the Organization of Turkic States. Its main goal is to develop cooperation among resorts in member countries and to promote the Turkic region as a unified international destination for mountain and winter tourism.
