Over the past five years, the Kostanay Region has demonstrated noticeable changes in the sphere of safety and improvement. Crime is gradually decreasing, and streets are becoming safer; large-scale work is underway on greening infrastructure, social facilities are being built, and the road network is being developed.
These data were announced at a joint meeting of the Kostanay Region Akimat and the Police Department, dedicated to the implementation of the national programs "Law and Order" and "Taza Kazakhstan," which are enshrined as key principles of the country's domestic policy and included in the draft of the new Constitution.
Within the framework of the "Law and Order" program, the Akim of the Kostanay Region, Kumar Aksakalov, emphasized that the work to ensure law and order in the region is carried out consistently and systematically, relying on digital technologies, crime prevention, and enhanced operational control, which has already made it possible to achieve a sustainable reduction in the crime rate and strengthen public safety.
– On the initiative of the Head of State, the "Law and Order" principle is being implemented stage by stage in the region. Over the past five years, the crime rate has decreased by 40 percent. The number of crimes committed in public places and on the streets has halved. As part of security digitalization, the system of Operational Control Centers is actively developing. In 2025, with the help of these systems, about 63 thousand offenses were detected and more than 370 crimes were solved. Over the past five years, the number of video surveillance cameras in the region has increased from 3.3 thousand to 46.9 thousand, – reported the head of the region.
As reported, today the Operational Control Centers in the Kostanay Region make it possible to monitor the situation in real time, identify offenses, and respond promptly, increasing the effectiveness of prevention.
Simultaneously, another strategic direction is developing in the region – the formation of a comfortable and environmentally responsible environment. The principle of caring for nature, enshrined in the draft of the new Constitution, is being implemented through the "Taza Kazakhstan" program.
According to the regional akimat, large-scale work has been underway since 2024 on the improvement of populated areas, restoration of abandoned buildings, greening, installation of lighting, and environmental education of the population.
Thus, last year, major repairs were completed on 108 multi-apartment buildings, 80 parks and squares were improved, 144 thousand trees and shrubs were planted, 164 children's and sports playgrounds were installed, and more than 6 thousand outdoor lighting poles were erected.
– The sustainable growth of the region's economy contributes to the effective implementation of the "Taza Kazakhstan" initiative. Following the results of 2025, the region's economic growth is expected to be at least 8 percent, which is higher than the national average. Funding for the road sector increases annually. Last year, 103 billion tenge were allocated, which is 40 percent more than in 2024 and 2.6 times more compared to 2022. 1,300 kilometers of roads were repaired, more than 400 streets in 103 populated areas of the region, as well as about 81 access roads to rural populated areas. In rural areas, 80 percent of the 80,619 households are provided with water supply. Last year, 51 social facilities were built in the region, – said Kumar Aksakalov.
The authorities of the Kostanay Region intend to continue work on the implementation of these programs and control over the execution of all planned activities at the local level.
