An environmental campaign marking the 180th anniversary of Zhambyl Zhabayev took place in the village of Zhambyl, Almaty Region.
Near the house-museum of the outstanding Kazakh akyn, 180 fruit trees were planted — a symbolic number reflecting the anniversary date. The initiative was carried out as part of the national program "Taza Qazaqstan" (Clean Kazakhstan), aimed at improving the environmental situation and fostering a caring attitude toward nature. According to Bakytzhan Zhailamysov, the village mayor, the campaign united representatives of different generations — from respected elders to young people, as well as employees of local institutions and organizations. It became a vivid example of civic responsibility and love for one’s native land. The campaign demonstrated that residents are ready to work together to improve their surroundings.
A special atmosphere was added by the fact that the event was held next to the poet’s house-museum. Zhambyl Zhabayev, whose work has become an integral part of Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage, rests nearby. Beside him, in accordance with his will, lies the outstanding kyuishi and composer Nurgisa Tlendiyev — a name that also holds a special place in the history of national art.
Museum staff note that the memorial complex attracts numerous visitors. Guests regularly come from nearby villages, other regions of the country, as well as foreign tourists. In this regard, landscaping the area and holding environmental campaigns takes on added significance, helping to preserve the historical and cultural space in proper condition.
According to the participants, such initiatives foster environmental awareness while simultaneously strengthening the bond between generations, reminding us of the importance of preserving natural and spiritual heritage. They are not only a contribution to improving the environmental situation but also a tribute to the memory of the great akyn.
