Residents of the Abay Region joined an online video conference with the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as part of the "Taza Kazakhstan" (Clean Kazakhstan) program.
Approximately five thousand people gathered at Republic Square in the Karagaily microdistrict of Semey – representatives of the intelligentsia, elders, deputies of regional and city maslikhats (local representative bodies), education, healthcare, and sports workers, as well as students.
After the video conference, Abay Region Governor Berik Uali noted that the "Taza Kazakhstan" initiative aims to foster a culture of cleanliness and requires ongoing public participation. According to him, it is not a one-off campaign but a sustainable practice that must continue year-round. Systematic work is already underway in the region: since April last year, region-wide clean-up days have been organized, involving more than 349,000 people. As a result, 52,000 tons of waste have been removed, over 70,000 seedlings planted, and 191 illegal dumps identified through space monitoring have been eliminated.
A plan of 44 measures for 2024–2029 has been approved for the coming years, of which 32 are scheduled for 2026. The governor called on residents to actively participate in beautification efforts, emphasizing that the cleanliness of public spaces reflects the level of culture and responsibility of each individual.
It should be noted that from April 3 to May 31, a two-month campaign for sanitary cleaning, improvement, and landscaping is underway in the region. Clean-up events have involved 29,643 individuals, 2,040 organizations, and 461 units of equipment. Cleaning has been carried out in 12,218 courtyards, 97 parks and squares, and the areas around 57 monuments; 2,897 tons of solid household waste have been removed. This year, it is planned to plant 67,000 trees and create forest belts along highways covering 240 hectares.
To ensure order and sanitary standards, 4,171 administrative protocols have been issued; the total amount of fines imposed is 9.1 million tenge.
