What should modern approaches to patriotic education of young people look like, and who bears the primary responsibility for it? These questions were the focus of a roundtable discussion held at the House of Friendship in the West Kazakhstan Region. Gathered around the same table were representatives from the education sector, military personnel, veterans, public figures, and youth activists.

Participants noted that love for the Motherland cannot be instilled through one-off events. It is formed gradually – through respect for the country's history, state symbols, family, native land, and the rule of law. Therefore, a crucial role in this process is played by the collaborative efforts of parents, teachers, public institutions, and the state.

According to the speakers, a child's first notions of civic duty and responsibility are acquired within the family. These values are then reinforced at school, where not only history lessons but also students' participation in military-patriotic associations, community projects, and volunteer activities are of great importance.

The participants paid special attention to the continuity of generations. Veterans emphasized that young people need living examples of service to their country, and that personal encounters with those who have devoted their lives to defending the Fatherland help foster a deeper understanding of the value of peace, independence, and social harmony.

Representatives of the defense ministry spoke about their work on military-patriotic education of young people and reminded the audience that military service is not only the fulfillment of a constitutional duty but also an opportunity to acquire new knowledge, professional skills, and access state support measures.

During the discussion, it was suggested that modern patriotism cannot be measured by words alone. It manifests itself in respect for the country's laws, honest labor, an active civic stance, a commitment to contributing to society, and a sense of responsibility for the future of the state.

In summing up the meeting, participants emphasized that fostering patriotism remains one of the most important tasks facing society.
