Since the beginning of 2026, 218,200 people from 40,400 families have received targeted social assistance. As of September 1 of the current year, the total amount of assigned assistance amounted to 23.1 billion tenge, while in 2026, 62.7 billion tenge has been allocated from the state budget for these purposes, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
It is worth noting that targeted social assistance (TSA) is an important measure of state support for families whose income is below the established poverty line. The main goal of TSA is to provide necessary support in conditions of financial difficulty and to create conditions for strengthening the self-reliance and well-being of these families.
The program includes not only cash payments but also employment promotion measures for able-bodied family members, which allows social support to be integrated with opportunities for earning income. Assistance is provided to citizens whose income is below the poverty line, with quarterly assignments.
At the same time, low-income families receiving TSA are entitled to an additional monthly payment for each child aged one to six in the amount of 1.5 MCI (minimum calculated index). As of September 1, 2026, such assistance has been assigned to 67,800 children in the amount of 2.5 billion tenge.
In addition, employment promotion measures are envisaged for able-bodied family members, including job placement, vocational training, and other forms of support. As a result, in the eight months of 2026, 6,565 TSA recipients were able to find employment.
It should be emphasized that state support under the TSA program is aimed not only at material provision during periods of particular difficulty but also at creating opportunities for able-bodied citizens to improve their financial conditions and transition to self-sufficiency.
Applications for TSA can be submitted through career centers, akimats of rural districts, or through the electronic government portal eGov.kz.
