A specialized online webinar was held in Almaty on the topic: “Inheritance Disputes in the Republic of Kazakhstan: How to Win a Case.” The event was attended by Dinara Kuikabayeva, Judge of the Medeu District Court, Master of Law, Business Trainer, and Certified Mediation Trainer; Galina Aidarbekova, Head of the Eurasian Center for Cooperation and Partnership for Analytical and Legal Literacy; and other representatives of the legal community of Kazakhstan.

It is known that the number of inheritance disputes in Kazakhstan is steadily growing today, and various training formats are becoming not just useful but necessary. They allow lawyers to stay abreast of current judicial practice, improve their qualifications, and, as a result, provide higher quality legal assistance.

The event was organized with the support of the Eurasian Center for Cooperation and Partnership for Analytical and Legal Literacy. The lecturer was Dinara Kuikabayeva – Judge of the Medeu District Court, whose practical experience allowed participants to gain a unique understanding of what evidence is actually accepted by courts and what mistakes parties most often make during proceedings.

During the webinar, key categories of inheritance disputes that practicing lawyers face daily were examined in detail:

– Contesting wills, including issues of the testator’s mental state, undue influence, and conducting expert examinations;

– Restoration of missed deadlines for accepting an inheritance;

– Division of inherited property, including real estate, business assets, and debt obligations;

– Appealing notaries’ refusals;

– Processing inheritance in the absence of title documents;

– Issues of the compulsory share in the inheritance;

– Intersection of inheritance and family disputes;

– Tactics and strategy of a lawyer in inheritance proceedings.

Special attention was paid to the judicial practice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the evidence that holds real legal weight in court.

During this webinar, Dinara Kuikabayeva thoroughly analyzed complex categories of inheritance disputes, provided practical recommendations for case management, and shared real cases from her judicial experience, which generated high interest and positive feedback from all participants.

The holding of such educational events aligns with the course of reforms and modernization of the legal system implemented within the framework of the policy of the Head of State, Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. Raising the level of professional training of lawyers, developing practical skills, and exchanging experience are becoming important factors in strengthening legal culture in the country.

The organizers emphasize that the main goal of the webinar is not only knowledge transfer but also the formation of sustainable practical competencies among specialists necessary for the effective protection of citizens’ rights.

Khasan SADUYEV,
Chairman of the Almaty City Chamber of Legal Consultants “Egida”:

– The webinar went well: it was structured and substantive. A lot of useful and, importantly, practically applicable information was presented. I would particularly like to note the competent delivery of the material and the emphasis on real judicial practice, which makes such events extremely valuable for specialists. It is very gratifying that experienced specialists share their knowledge and conduct a kind of master class for our colleagues – lawyers and advocates. This directly impacts the improvement of the quality of legal assistance and the level of training of practitioners. I fully support the holding of such events and eagerly await the next seminars. I am confident they will be no less useful and in demand among the professional community.

Alimzhan AIDARBEKOV,
President of the Consulting Law Agency “SOFIA”, Member of the “AMANAT” Party:

– Today, it is extremely important to develop highly specialized areas in legal practice, especially in such complex categories of cases as inheritance disputes. It is precisely such webinars that provide practicing lawyers with real tools and an understanding of the specifics of working in a particular field. As a member of the “AMANAT” party, I fully support the policy of President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev aimed at improving the professional level of specialists. Developing competencies in narrow fields not only improves the quality of legal assistance but also fosters healthy competition in the legal services market. Such initiatives contribute to the formation of a professional environment where the key criterion becomes not formal status, but the real level of knowledge and practical skills.

This makes it possible to effectively regulate the legal services market through the growth of professionalism, rather than through administrative tools. As a result, both the legal community itself and citizens who receive higher quality legal assistance benefit.

Galina AIDARBEKOVA,
Head of the Eurasian Center for Cooperation and Partnership for Analytical and Legal Literacy:

– I assess the conducted webinar on inheritance disputes as an important and timely professional event. We deliberately focused on practice – without excessive theory, with an analysis of real court cases, court positions, and the evidentiary basis that is actually accepted by the courts of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is especially valuable that such seminars foster specialization among lawyers. Today, this is not just a trend but a necessity. The legal services market does not require generalists but specialists who deeply understand a specific category of cases. Such webinars are, in essence, a professional bridge between theory and real judicial practice. And I am sincerely glad that interest in such formats is growing and colleagues are actively engaging in the learning process.

As event participants note, holding such webinars is an important step towards increasing the level of legal literacy not only of the professional community but also of citizens themselves who daily face issues requiring a competent legal approach to problem-solving.

Of particular note are the presentations by judges, whose participation plays a key role in the success of such events. Experienced servants of Themis demonstrate deep theoretical knowledge and, what is especially important, a unique understanding of judicial practice necessary in real-life situations.
