On the shores of Lake Alakol, a ceremony was held to open a universal rescue unit, with the participation of Abay Region Governor Berik Uali and the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Shyngys Arinov.
Construction of the facility near the village of Kabanbay began in July last year. The single-story building is equipped with garages for vehicles and watercraft. Rescuers have six vehicles at their disposal, including two boats and two jet skis.
According to the regional governor, the opening of the unit enhances safety at one of the largest tourist destinations. Along the 4-kilometer coastline, there are 230 recreation bases, over 100 retail outlets, and more than 50 catering establishments. Last year, over 100,000 tourists visited Alakol.
It is worth noting that the universal rescue unit is equipped with all necessary machinery. A capsule rapid-response module has also been launched, and a fire station is being built in Kabanbay with government support.
During the event, a rapid-response module and a video surveillance project using AI were presented; guests also viewed the coastline from a boat. Rescuers were given keys to seven service vehicles, and spruce seedlings were planted on the premises.
To ensure the safety of vacationers, 17 rescue towers have been installed, and 35 instructors have been trained. Last year, 42 inspections were conducted, and 15 administrative protocols were issued. Under the "Aul Rescuers" program, 75 fire posts are operating in the region, with another 12 planned to open this year.
