“Alakol is one of the key tourist destinations in the region. Therefore, the coastal infrastructure must meet modern requirements,” said Abai Region Governor Berik Uali during a review of the ongoing beautification works along the shores of this unique lake.
Today, projects are being implemented along the coastline to develop tourist infrastructure, enhance safety, and create comfortable conditions for vacationers, as part of a comprehensive overhaul of the resort area.
One of the major projects is the construction of a circular entrance barrier with a total length of 11.8 kilometers. Approximately four kilometers of the work have already been completed.
Simultaneously, projects to modernize public spaces and engineering infrastructure are underway. This year, plans include the installation of 400 new lighting poles, replacement of fixtures on 300 existing poles, and the renewal of 18 kilometers of electrical cables. This will significantly improve the level of illumination and safety along the coast.
The renovation of the Arbat pedestrian zone and the park area is also ongoing. This includes repairs to footpaths, reconstruction of a children’s playground, a fountain, and a street workout area. These efforts aim to create a modern and comfortable environment for tourists and local residents.
Special attention is being paid to the sanitary condition of the resort area. Plans call for the installation of 40 sanitary facilities, 35 changing cabins, and 100 waste containers. Some of these facilities—sanitary units, showers, and changing cabins—are already operational.
Environmental safety remains a top priority. Specifically, a new site for the solid waste landfill has been allocated 800 meters away from the nearest settlement, with waste removal occurring twice daily.
Additionally, the tourist zone’s development program includes strengthening digital security. This year, 223 video surveillance cameras are set to be installed along the coastline. Furthermore, fiber-optic communication lines are being laid, and new antenna structures are being built to improve internet connectivity.
The regional governor has instructed that all work be completed efficiently and on schedule, emphasizing that cleanliness, safety, and the comfort of vacationers remain the top priorities.
