Paid parking has been returned to the municipal property of the city. This was stated in the press service of the Akimat of Almaty.

The Akimat reported that in order to demonopolize and compensate for potential damage, the Akimat of Almaty received a proposal from the owners of companies to return a 70% stake in Almaty Special Parking Service LLP and a 100% stake in Alan Parking LLP to the ownership of the city.

"Almaty Spetstekhparking Service LLP, as a single operator, specializes in servicing sidewalk parking lots located in 5 districts of the city (Almaly, Bostandyk, Zhetysu, Medeu, Turksib). Akimat owns 30% in this LLP.

Alan Parking LLP is a single operator for the maintenance of parking lots located in 3 districts (Alatau, Bostandyk, Zhetysu). The LLP was completely privately owned.

The Akimat of Almaty, in accordance with the current legislation, adopted a resolution on the return of shares in the above-mentioned companies. Today, the paid parking system is functioning normally. According to the Decree, all income from the activities of paid parking from April 25 of this year will be directed to the city budget.

Currently, the Akimat of Almaty has begun work on the creation of a single operator for the organization of the parking zone of the city. Taking into account the deadlines established by the current legislation for obtaining permits, as well as the need for coordination with antimonopoly authorities, a single operator will be created before August 1, 2022.

In order to improve the quality of service based on complaints from residents of Almaty, comprehensive measures will be taken to improve the operation of paid parking.

In the future, it is planned to develop a concept for the development of urban parking space using international experience and using the proceeds from paid parking for the improvement of streets and courtyards. Also, the priority will be the construction of multi-tiered parking lots in the city to solve the accumulated problems.

The system of paid parking in Almaty was first introduced in 2016. According to the information of the above companies, the financial turnover from paid parking on average for the year amounted to 1.4 billion tenge.
